  • Nettle feed

Not something I have ever made, is it worth doing or stick to the bought feeds?

It's high in nitrogen and works well but smells really bad. Have a go, just for experience

It's nettle tea for leafy stuff, comfrey tea for flowers and fruit.

I didn't know that Mothhawk, I've always just made a mash up of anything green, I cut my Comfrey back to the ground when it starts to show flowers and chuck in the dustbin. I think it's boking 21 but who knows. I add nettles if they appear around the garden, dandelion leaves all sorts really. It stews with me topping up the water on a regular basis, it gets sieved before diluting and adding into the watering can.

I didn't realise there were different uses for my pungent concoction.

I pack the nettles into my wife's tights, and yes I make sure she isn't wearing them at the time, along with some stones to weigh it down as all types of leaves have a tendency to float also putting them into tights or a net bag helps keep any outlet clear plus no need to filter when using and use it for feeding your leafy veg, also give comfrey or docks a try they are good for fruits like cucs and tomatoes plus if you are pulling the things out your garden it gets the weed down
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Stuffing nettles into the wife's tights and weighing them down with rocks before submerging in water. You are giving me some interesting ideas Rary.

Well, I guess you're making an all round good general plant feed, Mikey, beneficial for all the garden.
Comfrey and nettles of course can be used for all plants, both make good fertilizer, but nettles have lots of nitrogen so very good for top growth, while comfrey has more potash and potassium than nettles, so good for flowers.
