Dug my first root of Charlotte spuds today, seed spuds from Marshalls.
Was a bit worried with the recent dry weather, did a lot of watering!
One root gave 1.4Kg spuds, all a nice size and clean.
Panned up for tea.
Most pleased.
For the record.
I dig a trench, line with muck then a layer of grass trimmings, spuds and a few slug pellets. Then a layer of my home made compost. Cover with earth.
Earth up when they appear.
I had to fleece them one night as it dropped below zero.
