Spring onion success

I use loads of spring onions, usually shop bought.
I have never had any success growing them until now.
I sowed them in modules and transplanted when big enough.
They have grown on wonderfully.
With the shop bought ones I need to use 2 or 3 and trim off lots of withered leaves.
With mine I only need one and use all of the leaves, no withering.
Super in salads and wraps.

I've been tray-sowing spring onions these last couple years, too, then transplanting once they are about 2-3mm thick. They transplant very well (just like leeks do) and it's easier to get a good germination rate in trays.

I sowed mine directly, but this year I have had my best result since moving north of Hadrian's wall, tasty too.

I sow mine in modules same as Jimmy I never seem to get good results sowing direct.

Sow in modules as well.
I transplant them in bunches.
Not looking for show size so it suits me fine.

The shop bought one always look a bit bedragled.
When I get them I usually pop them in a glass of water over night.
Seems to refresh them.
Dry off and keep in the fridge.

Same here, never had any success sowing direct, this year been starting them off in modules and planting out in clumps and hey presto, spring onions to eat with the radishes.
