  • Containerwise injection-moulded propagation (plug) trays - which sizes?

I've had my eye on Containerwise propagation trays for a few years because they look the most solid trays on the market unless anyone can advise me of other injection-moulded plug trays.
I had to use up a bunch of flimsy inserts I got reduced at end of season from Poundstretcher

Containerwise have recently put the prices of some of their trays on the website and e-commerce

Anyone who uses them Which sizes should I get?

    Brassicas
    Beets and chard
    Chillies
    Tomatoes
    Herbs
Garlic (overwintered under glass as soil is too wet and heavy)
    Onions
    Shallots
    Peas and beans
    Salad

    Multi-sowed where possible

I tend to leave them in plug trays too long due to weather, life getting in the way or laziness.
A couple of Youtube channels have recently mentioned them but they have haven't responded to requests for size recommendations.

I'll be doing more ornamentals once I learn more about it.

I have used all sorts of plastic trays in the past of all sizes, but I am now uncomfortable using plastic, so I am now looking for alternatives, I have found some pots that are reported to last for around 5 years, then you smash them up and compost them. So I now intend to use wooden trays or pots rather than plastic modules, I am still using ones I have for now, but won't be buying any more. I shall re-use plastic packaging like the trays that some meat and fruit come in from the supermarkets, saves money and the planet........................just a thought. All my new pots will be clay or bio- degradable.

If you leave all your seedlings overlong in their plugs, then get the biggest size for everything. You don't say if these trays are for greenhouse or coldframe or to stand outdoors. The amount of space available is often a decider, as is how many seeds you intend to sow. I, like Burnie, also no longer buy plastic or polyprop.

        Endless wonder.
