As the picture I posted appears to be updating with time (and therefore may disappear as the system dissipates), here is a screenshot of how it looked at 4pm this afternoon:

Kirk is trending further south today and also showing as weakening after moving inland, both of which will reduce impacts for northern France and the low countries, although the system is now forecast to clip the north of Spain as it moves into Biscay. There will still be impacts from strong winds and very heavy rain, but it does not look as bad today as it did yesterday.

A reminder to expect cold nights from tomorrow night (tonight in Scotland) and over the weekend. Ground frost is possible in many areas, particularly Thursday night when temperatures could fall below freezing in vulnerable areas. Check local forecasts.

The weather is about to become much colder from tomorrow, staying cold for about a week, with a possibility of some significant snow in places on Monday night into Tuesday. Temperatures will depend on snow cover - it will be much colder if there is snow on the ground. There are already yellow warnings from the Met Office for Scotland and parts of northern England for snow and ice. While it is definitely going to become cold, there is considerable uncertainty about the path of potential low pressure systems and this will determine where any snow falls.

Keep an eye on forecasts and warnings for your area, and expect these to change from day to day. Bring in or cover any vulnerable plants that you want to keep, and make sure nets and covers and their supports can cope with the weight of any snow.

I'm always surprised how much damage snow can do simply from its weight. My Mum used to have various conifer trees in her garden and living fairly high up she got a fair bit of snow. Quite often huge branches would be broken from the weight of it, particularly if it part melted then froze into ice.
