Will I need to cover it to protect from frost. It doesn't appear to have come up yet, so will it be ok?
Don't think we are due any snow this weekend, but it has started me thinking about winter in general on the allotment.
    Cheers in advance
If you have planted the crowns directly into the ground and it is not waterlogged you should be fine, but a covering of straw (which generates heat when it is wet but isn't great in the wind) or fleece is a good way to hedge your bets

However if you have planted them in big pots make sure you don't overwater, wrap the pot in bubblewrap and put a couple of layers of fleece on top (don't cover with bubblewrap as it cannot "breathe"

    Hope this helps

It's snowing (and laying) here on the East Coast. It never does that! (well, hardly ever)

We had a big freeze last night - I was blue when I finished work at two this morning, and when I woke up (courtesy of baby Niamh) at 6 this morning, I looked outside to see 2" of snow and it's still snowing.
Iona wants to build a snowman, then go sledging, but I think Bbay Niamh might object ! (or I might get too cold).
Gonna spend the day making chutney (for myself) and making cakes and tray bakes (for Mys - oops, I mean for the kids)
OH is away to Glasgow for a 40th birthday and not back til tomorrow night - unless she gets snowed in of course - we can all dream eh ?

Not snowing here, but I am in darkest Surrey. Hoping for some tomorrow, we are quite high up so it might. I love snow, and sledging. If the boys think they are too old for it I am going on me own!

Lovely and sunny here this morning, but it is a bit chilly. Still not had a proper frost though, the dahlias and nasturtiums are still looking good
