Today I harvested 2021

Just some leeks. Sprouts, kale and psb have succumbed to a grey-black mould and didn’t look remotely edible

Yesterday parsnips and cabbage.

Picked some more allotment apples, for making jelly.
Also collected up a bucket full of rotten apples from under the tree, to put on my compost bin.

Leeks for dinner.
Managed to lever them out of the frozen soil (luckily only the top inch is frozen, so once you break through the crust it's easy enough work).

Beetroot for dinner.
My first trip to the allotment since this cold weather started. Must have been pretty cold the night before last, as even the purple sprouting broccoli has some minor frost damage. Nothing it won't grow out of, though.

Ours are lovely and sweet...I’ll be needing to make way for the spuds in a while, so need to think about picking and freezing some sautéed ones for later in the year.

Just lifted the last of the Parsnips and a few more stump rooted carrots, small but very tasty.
