Today I harvested 2021

I've noticed that with my Spinach, i picked a fair bit yesterday to go in wraps.

My spinach wasn't able to survive the slugs...
I decided to sow some in the ground for the first time this year, but there's none left now.

I finally harvested the single apple from my back garden tree.
I will be very disappointed if we get another late frost next year.

Plot I thought ours was a bad harvest with only 6 apples.

The tree was an unexpected gift. I had not been told that it was damaged during shipping mail order. It was replaced by the supplier.
It had a 200 mile journey in flower and produced nothing until the next year. We then got 15 apples.
The year after that there was no flowers or fruit so I planted it in the ground where it got hit by a wind blown fence panel.
I did emergency surgery to a break almost across the graft.
It has produced quite a bit of top growth and will with luck build up some wood over the injury as a result of this.
It has only produced two apples since the fence panel ordeal but is now showing potential.

Just nipped out for a few raspberries for my oatmeal, looks lit it might be the last of them.

Yeah I thought they were all done but left them as I was away for a few weeks. But the weather has been warm. According to my thermometer it's been warmer in my tunnel overnight than it was in June. Very odd. Anyway I've lifted all the plants now. Been a crazy year for peppers, I've had hundreds of massive ones. Usually I can't even keep a single plant alive and get about 3. Very odd. Normal service will resume next year no doubt.

Frosts coming soon, so I harvested all of the remaining allotment peppers. Came to 2.4kg.

The last of the tomatoes (PT and outside), leeks, apples, cabbage and the last carrots.

Another load of carrots. There was one massive white one in amongst them - must have been a rogue seed. It looked more like a parsnip, and mad many very large side roots. Definitely a carrot, though, as the leaves were carrot leaves, and it tastes like a carrot.
Probably the last of the beans for drying.
All of the cape gooseberries which are even slightly ripe, which I shall try to ripen fully indoors.

I test harvested my first parsnip.
The bed is an area that was heavily infested with bind weed. I scraped the bind weed roots off the bed rock and turned the soil several times during last summer to expose the bind weed root fragments to full sun. The deep excavation has left me with a good root crop bed.
It looks like it has worked very well.
