Interesting, I've got today as flower day until 6pm then leaf.

I'd put sweetcorn with fruit not leaf anyway.

Although somewhere in the world it will be suitable to grow sweetcorn at the moment, it definitely isn't here. Which guide are you using Two_Sheds?

My peas that I'm using for the pea tops only, are going in after 6pm, as I want them for the tops only.

Must be being dim but all I can see for today is:

Moon in Scorpio: This is a Water sign. It is a good time to sow Leaf plants like Cabbages, Lettuce, but it would not be a good time to sow Fruiting plants like Broad Beans (Fava), Peas, Fruits Harvested now will store for longer.

Am guessing from the reference to Fava beans that there is an american influence.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Okay, I'm game for Dec 27th but can I use either "Orange Banana" Tomato from Real Seeds or the French Black tomato I mooched from Pigletwillie? And for the onions can I use any onion seeds - have Lillia (a French heritage red onion, thanks Marigold007) or Japanese bunching onions (Real Seeds) or plain old red onion from Suttons. I can use south facing kitchen window sill (my cacti will need to find a new home a wee while)

I have just re-read the thread and noticed Zazen's recommendations from Real Seeds and I'm a sucker for anything from there so I think I will get the Ukraine toms.

I read in the december GYO mag to start cherry toms first as they will ripen easier as they are so small.

But! - I think if I'm going to try cherry toms I may as well try a couple of seeds each of plum toms and a couple each of all the other sorts I have too! Have got nothing to lose - however, I am aware that I will have to look after them carefully to stop them getting weak and leggy and to transplant them when needed to bigger pots! I can't wait - I am itching to start sowing all the seeds I have collected!!!

Dobby I am going to have to agree with the majority vote on this thread. I wasnt impressed at all with Sub Arctic Plenty. (Radio 4?? At your age??)
I find they get so leggy as well Flum!!
I will be trying cherry toms, self saved from the cherry toms I grew in abundance last year. Will also pop a couple of plum and giant toms in for good measure. Did it last year on boxing day and cherry's grew very well indeed.
