Yeilds and costs

I posted this once before ( years ago) but I can't find it so I tracked the original source down again. attached if a photo of a page in one of my old books that gives the costs of a setting up a 10 rood allotment ... Sadly for you youngsters its in £ s d ( old money) not £ p New money but 20s is a pound, a shilling is 5p so I'm sure you can work it out.

If I can find it I think there was a spreadsheet that went with it that listed all the costs and a tab for harvests and approximate costs had you bought it and it gave you a balance sheet. Just for interest really

Estimated costs of these vegetables if purchased is £13 9s 9d (pre war) (£13 44p roughly) and the costs of seeds, potatoes, farmyard manure, fertilzers and rent is £2 7s 0d (£2 35p)

What's the syringe for, and why does it cost as much as a wheelbarrow?

The syringe will be for spraying the caterpillars - they looked a lot like bicycle pumps.

I've still got one well a modern version but without the two jets it has a pipe you dangle in a bucket and then you just pump and you get a super fine mist, ideal for cuttings ... unless like mine the fibre washers gone in it and I've got to find the spare This is mine

Is there a yields page? The page shows costs and time to maturity, but not yields. I think I have yield comparisons for a dig - no dig experiment. All depends on the weather, location, etc. I guess.

The No Dig book has lots about yields in it. Can recommend!

I have seen boxes of assorted fiber washers in the non food sections of discount stores and also tool tables in the flea market if they ever open again.
