I woke up one morning, duvet tucked up to chin. Not quite conscious yet, the eyes were bleary and focussing on green ... green? My duvet's white.
As my eyes opened, I realised it was a fat green caterpillar curled up next to my chin. Must have come in on the washing. All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

will build a little mesh net similar to what I put over my leeks to stop the pigeons from pulling them out!!! (Canes into 2 litre coke bottles and canes linking them together...)
I know I am blonde but can't visualise the canes and coke bottle thing. Sounds like a cheaper option than buying mesh cages so if anyone has the patience to explain please.

You then have a basic framework to drape a net over (the bottles stop you poking your eye out and stop the net sliding down the cane)
I suppose if you want to be a bit more elaborate you could cut small holes in sides and add other cross bracing canes but I never bother.
Tennis balls can also be used to good effect also with holes pierced in them accordingly, for the canes! My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

Thats how i do my cages aswell - except i buy 8 foot canes and saw them in half....
Anyway = definitely pigeons......attacking the leaves on my swedes now.....
I took the home made cage off my leeks and put it over the sprouts....the leeks have survived so far!!!
Perhaps time to make another frame......AKA - BigMatt over at Chillis Galore......
