  • Can't find growbags for my toms

Every year I get 12 growbags. I grow many types of toms in them.
    Usually they cost under £2.
But can't find any this year.
I am hoping Lidl will get some in plus bags of compost. They are normally much cheaper.
    Any ideas?

Oh dear, I hope we're not going to be struggling to find them like we did last year I've got three bags of compost warming up nicely in the greenhouse but as it's pay day today I'll be stocking up on a few more because I have ten fruit trees heeled into a large container and need to pot them all up ASAP.

Have you tried Wilko or Yorkshire Trading....the branches in our town are ok (at the moment!) for compost etc

Morrisons in Ross had grow-bags the other day. They also had 40L bags of compost for sale at 5 for £10, I'll check B&Q next weekend to see what their prices are.

Sadly you get what you pay for with compost I'm afraid. The local allotment site has plenty of compost and growbags but even they don't bother with the cheap stuff now. So I either use Clover compost or Humax growbags.and these are emptied in to the buckets I grow the Toms in

Our local Morrisons has had a delivery and got growbags as well as the 5-for-£10 compost.

The main supplier that I use who supply all over Scotland say that they can not get any compost with peat in it.
Had to use some stuff with that coconut fibre in it last season. Looked and felt like old carpets. Had to use 3 different compost last year to finish off the amount of plants. What was interesting was the different growth rates as all the plants came from the same batch.

I bought the Morrisons 5-for-£10 compost bags in the end. It looks reasonably OK - about the same as the Verve stuff from B&Q. I added some extra slow release fertiliser to it for potting up my tomatoes, so we'll see how they do.

I would say that, as is often the case with multi-purpose, anyone wanting to use this for sowing fine seed would need to sieve it first.

I have been using Arthur Bowers, and another 9ne called Tippland. Cantliftit up to see who produces it as it's too heavy. 70 liters.
I have used them both last season and found the quality very good.
