  • First Of The Season...

Picked this years first asparagus spear today. Just the one so ate it raw there and then.
Anyone else picked a first of anything for this season?

I’ve picked ten asparagus spears so far. Steamed with butter. Heavenly.

      I look every day!

None yet. I will tell my asparagus about your success.
I live in a part of the UK with very mild winters. Please take this into account before thinking "if he is sowing those now...."

Mine isn't even showing above the ground yet. I'm starting to get slightly concerned...

Had my first salad leaves and land cress with dinner last night. I find salad leaves strangely difficult to grow successfully.

I could probably pick my first salad leaf about the size of my small finger

                        Picked my first rhubarb today.
I've also been picking overwintered crops for a while now, but I don't think that counts.

Oh my - asparagus envy. Not a sign of mine yet, but it is always late and arrives at a rate of one spear per week (so never enough for a meal....)
If it ain't broke...fix it til it is!
