  • Tomato leaves darkening / turning black

I planted my tomatoes outdoor last week and some of the leaves on the tomatoes have started to turn black / darken. Does anyone know whether this is a fungal issue or nutrient deficiency?

There's a likelihood it's down to temperature, cool nights can cause this, my tomatoes in the greenhouse suffered similarly a week or so back.

Agree with Burnie, it's just the cold temps at night.
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

I agree with them both ....they’ll be fine.
Just keep an eye on your nighttime temperatures over the next few days - not sure where you are located, but some areas may be due for a drop in temperatures again

Tomatoes are generally a moody plant. They sulk and turn a dark blue / purple when they get chilly. I wouldn't worry too much unless your temperatures fall overnight. they'll soon come round once they get the decent weather in them
