  • Onion question

Hi. I planted Toughball onion seedlings late autumn and as in a hurry I planted in clusters of 3.
They now are the size of golf balls and the leaves are flopping over and the skins starting to brown. I was hoping for tennis balls!!
My question is - is it best to give up now on them getting any bigger and harvest them and use like shallots?
I could do with the bed they are in if they are not likely to get any bigger.

If you planted in clusters, that probably explains why they're smaller than you were hoping for. If the leaves are flopping over and the skins are browning, sounds like they think they're done growing. Sounds like lifting and using the bed is your best bet.
