  • Seed consistency-squashes

I bought a packet of regular marrow seeds and have had no consistency with them.
The first two plants have produced fruits that differ greatly.
One is producing large deeply ribbed fruits over two foot long and the other is producing short fat foot long fruits.
Has anyone else had a mixed packet of seeds like this?
I have been blamed for the fruits being too big so I had to explain that plants do not grow fruits to order. They just offer what they want us to have.

I can't answer this one, sorry Plot70. But just wanted to say I am a little envious (in a friendly way, of course) as for years my squashes and pumpkins have hardly produced anything

Btw, when you say 'blame' is that tongue in cheek? I don't know who the fruits go to, but yep - we are gifted what we are gifted

I live with an ex army chef so all the catering related things about what I grow gets plenty of criticism. I have to have a tease back from time to time.

I have now got a fruit coming on another plant and it is "rocketing".
It really thinks that it should be joining the space race.
