Planted my first row of pre-chitted parsnips seeds, covering them with a cloche.

Due to the cold and windy weather I have decided to plant some more seeds to germinate on the windowsills this afternoon. I have got some compost warming gently and have so far decided on more tomatoes, sweet peppers, Padron peppers, aubergines and courgettes. I am waiting another week before I plant sweetcorn and squashes as they just grow so fast and finding room for 50 growing sweetcorn will be a problem. I want extra sweetcorn this year after discovering last year how well the Lark sweetcorn froze off the cob to use in risotto etc in Winter.

I did the same last year and they were fine.

I'm going to be trying my hand at grafting melon plants this year.
I put my melon and watermelon seeds to sprout on damp paper a week ago, then potted them up when they sprouted 3 days later.
When I potted them up, I also put some squash seeds on damp paper to sprout (they need starting a little later, as they grow quicker).
Then when the melon seedlings emerged, I put a sprouting squash seed into the same pot as the melon seedling.
Once the squash have emerged and the melons have one true leaf I plan to graft them using the approach method.

Only sowed them the end of last week.
