Today I harvested 2022….

  • The remainder of the pumpkins.
    I think quite a few are going to friends for carving.
    Most of the vines were browning off anyway.
    There is three small ones that set late. I will leave them and see if they get any bigger.
    I have left most of the butternuts out as the vines are still green.

    • A load of black kale. Interestingly it's less affected by whitefly than the red or dazzling blue vareities.

                    • Another bucket of beans for drying, plus a load of peppers, some tomatoes, some swiss chard, and some autumn rhubarb.

                      • I harvested the remainder of the green tomatoes as the plants had started getting blight.
                        There was three quarters of a giant punnet of them.

                            • Our very last ( and first) two yellow courgettes. One from each plant. Rubbish year for them - the plants just wouldn’t grow and when they did they wouldn’t flower and when they did they were all males….and finally when a few small fruit appeared…they rotted at the 2” stage. We were lucky just to get these two 3”ones tbh.
                              Crazy after having so many glut years .

                              Also picked more bay leaves for a vase display.
