  • Separated the tiny beetroot seedlings I bought and planted them in individual modules. About 50. Planted out some purple sprouting broccoli seedlings. Dug compost out of one of my daleks, sieved it and put some of it on the strawberries and the rhubarb.

            • Planted my second earlies (elfe). Started chitting some more peas. Wrestled to dig up two Cornus in the front garden and move them to the back. Turns out they have really big roots!

              • Chitted hurst greenshaft peas potted up. Alderman peas x2 planted into roottrainers. With a box at the end as somehow I managed to lose a roottrainer!? First 8 beetroot up so I will sow another 8 modules.

Re-weeded one of the strawberry beds.
Spread about the sand I collected yesterday (someone was giving it away for free).

                  • Covered my akebia vines in preparation for the frosts to come.
Also sprayed all of the flowering fruit trees with potassium citrate, which is supposed to increase tissue potassium levels and thereby act as a sort of anti-freeze. We shall see.

                      • Planted out all my onion setts today.
I started them off in individual pots in Octtober.
They have been outdoors for the last 6 weeks so they should be fine.

                        • Did a load more digging.
Also checked the fruit trees for frost damage. No appreciable damage yet, but tonight is set to be the coldest night...

                              • Went out at dawn to pour water over my apricot trees. Defrosting them with cold water like this is supposed to cause less harm than letting the sun do it, and means there's supposed to be greater chance of the fruit and flowers surviving.
Based on an inspection just now, I don't think things are look promising... And it did go down to -2 for several hours last night, after all.
I had a really good apricot crop coming, too, for the first time ever...
