Am I right in thinking that different species of pepper cannot cross with each other, so if I'm only growing one variety of Capsicum baccatum (the rest being C. annuum), then as long as no one else nearby is growing that species I can save seeds from it without needing to actually isolate it?
Baccatums will cross with everything except C. Galapagoens, C. Tovarii, C. Pubescens, C. Eximium, C. Cardenasii so will willingly cross with Annuums creating an F1 Hybrid.

I use 4-5 litre pots for all varieties, and they seem to do well. I wouldn't want to grow even small varieties in anything as small as 2 litres, much less 0.75. They need more root space than that, plus even setting root space aside, such a small volume of compost has very little water-holding capacity, so would need watering very frequently.
I grew Peruvian Purple and Little Demon in 0.75 pots last year, they both got to full size were prolific producers and are both just starting flowering again so outside they go.

Damn. Looks like I'll have to isolate some flowers on my Apple Crisp after all.

Just when I thought it was safe the night time temperature plummeted to 4.5, thank god for the little 500w heater, although I have 4 of last years plants outside the greenhouse.

I planted 5 of last year's plants out at the allotment yesterday.
Where I am, tonight is forecast to go down to 8c, and Friday night 7c, but then every night thereafter in the long range forecast is at least 10.
The mature plants are more cold-resistant than the little ones, anyway (Mine even caught a couple of light frosts last autumn, but took no damage from them), so they should be fine.

Would it be OK to put chillies in unheated greenhouse now, I still have mine in the house

I have mine in the unheated greenhouse now. Hasn’t really been below 10 in it at night.

All of my peppers are planted out now, either at the allotment or in pots on my patio.
When I was potting up the patio ones today I noticed a fair few of them had quite a lot of fungus gnat larvae in the pots... I tried to shake off as many as I could before potting them on. I hope they'll be okay...

Mine are doing fine and looking healthy enough but no buds yet I’m afraid.

I've got the first of my sweet pepper red cherry developing, a new one for me, they just looked so cute I had to try them!
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

Mine are bushing out well and have recovered from the fungus gnat attack. Around half of them have flower buds coming.
