Big shallots produce lots of little shallots whereas little shallots produce just a few big ones! Usually!

I've saved the middle (average) sized ones. Big ones I use for eating.

They grow fine and for some reason are a lot more expensive to buy than onion sets so it could be worth while!

I like small onions or shallots boiled as a vegetable so always stick some of the larger shallots in to get these.

I've been growing my own self saved shallots for three years now but each year I beef them up with a few GC bought ones as over time you will get diminishing returns unless you inject new blood!

I like Red Sun and Golden Gourmet for pickling and Jermor for cooking
