  • Potato Pest!

My first ever attempt at growing anything, and potatoes was going really well, but it seems I have fallen foul of a common garden pest.

Came out to water them the other day and found that right in the centre of my pot the leaves and stems were flat and squashed. I can not prove it, but I suspect the dreaded childicarus footballarous pest.

I’ve lost a truss of tomatoes to that pest hopefully they’ll carry on growing through the damage.

Sympathy like there, mjd42. They might spring back up. They look in magnificent condition.

I am hoping they are generally ok, a lot of broken stems though :-(, not sure if I should cut the broken stems back and see if there is regrowth?

I'd be inclined to leave the stems for a few days to see what happens, any that wilt and die can be removed but some will most probably bounce back (no pun intended.. )
