  • Quadgrow holiday watering kit help

    Hello
I don't suppose anyone has a holiday watering kit for the latest design Quadgro? I am trying to set it up but it leaks at the tap connector. GS have not been able to offer a solution,, I am assuming not a fault as both kits have the same problem.
There is also the mystery of here the O ring goes... Their instructions are not at all clear.
I am at my wits' end... and unable to go on holiday unless I sort this!

I don’t have the kit but it sounds like the o ring will stop the leak when it’s in position. A photo might help,is there an illustration that came with the kit?

The instructions really aren't great. Basically it just make sure the O ring is in place after telling you how to fit the float. The guy I emailed seemed to think the o ring went somewhere down that end of the business - where the float is attached to the tank. The leak is at the other end. The tap connector comes in two parts which are screwed together and its leaking at the join- where the green part joins the black part in the picture - roughly where I have drawn an elipse. They are screwed as tightly together as is possible.
My thoughts are, the part is faulty, the part is designed badly, I have done something wrong, or... and outsider... it's something to do with the O ring.
      Thanks for answering btw.

It does sound faulty. If you are desperate to go away might using some ptfe tape be a temporary fix?
Maybe contact them and tell them you are desperately short of time and as you are dependant on it working then you expect their guarantee shouldn’t be invalidated by any temporary fix methods you end up being forced to take?
        Just a thought.

It looks like there are a couple of videos on YouTube showing how to set it up. Might be worth watching them?

Surely the rubber ring must go in between the black and green parts.

^^^I was thinking that too. Was it missing that part?

I have stuck the O ring everywhere (including between the two bits of the connector)! I don't think it's supposed to go in between those two parts. There are logical reasons why it might not be e.g. why not just put it there themselves, given it came screwed together, and surely they would say explicitly, take apart the connector and insert O ring. But not sure that logical reasons apply here given how bad their instructions are. However as I said, I have tried this and it makes no difference. There is nothing to stretch it over inside. It's not big enough to stretch over the connector bit, and the guy was adamant that it went down the other end. I am presuming he had some clue about this to be so sure (but unspecific...)

I have now sent them another two message, yesterday. No reply or even the usual, once presumes automatic place holder emal. We are heading for a trustpilot review, here, now... Maybe they have only one customer service person - the one who was so sure my problem was not putting the connector on the tap properly, who has not gone quiet on me (on holiday?!?)
I have said that going on holiday depends on it.
What I really need are some reliable teenagers who will come and do all the watering for a modest fee, but I doubt my husband would trust such to turn the water off. Of course none of this would be necessary if you could really leave Quadgrows for two weeks without filling as advertised. In this weather it’s every other day, if not every day!

Some alternative possible connectors from Amazon arrived in the post last night. One looks like it might work but it will involve pulling apart what I have, and I am worried about making things worse.

re the videos, I think they are for the old style/design kits (Which I also want/need but which are now unavailable.) The old style has a red ball instead of a white float and the tubes/pipes go straight into the tank (bet they leaked...!)

                Sorry for being so disgruntled!

And thank you all for looking at this and making very sensible suggestions.

Does this video help? It might be a different design but when unscrewed is it similar for where to put the o ring?

I just stuck one of the amazon connectors on to another bit of piping, and no dripping. I now just have to wait until the tanks go down enough to test if this works when in the whole system.

                      Fingers crossed.

If it does then I can save a lot of money by buying the extension kit for my other QGs (I have 4) rather than a whole new kit. £10 as opposed to £18. (Why are they charging that much for a tap connetor?!?)

(Meanwhile the tap has started leaking!!! But I am hoping that can be fixed more easily...)

And comparing the two taps connectors - the new on has rubber seal inside it. I have tried putting the O ring in a different part of it. More fingers crossed.
