Oh that reply really was unexpected and made me laugh FF ! Total nutter
Dot - As Bren suggests maybe post piccies of the beans later on?
As a thought…I’m presuming they could be either runner beans, dwarf or climbing french beans?
Have you grown all these in the past, or could those beans have been gifted to you from someone else?
I am aware that different varieties throw off tendrils in an anti-clockwise or clockwise direction. Might be worth looking out for that to help with working out just what they are.
If I recall correctly, Runner beans tend to coil clockwise when looking down on them.
Another thought is that could they be the type of bean you eat at the pod stage…..or save the beans for drying ( they tend to have much tougher pods)
Have a think as which of those categories you can eliminate!

they're not broad beans ... there I narrowed it down a bit
Don't suppose you can remember what they looked like can you?
These are French beans of various types if they were bigger than these then Its probably a Runner Bean ... if its like these then they're french beans1 PhotoLast edited by nick the grief; 05-08-2022, 11:23 AM.

Those are definitely French beans of one sort or another, as the cotyledons (the remains of the seed itself) have emerged from the soil along with the seedling (you can see them attached the stem there). In runner beans, the cotyledons remain underground.
It's impossible to say at this stage whether they are climbing or dwarf, though.

By a process of elimination I now think these are actually Blue Lake climbing beans, the dwarf beans I have growing are Amethyst, which are not the colour these beans were. The Blue Lake I planted with canes etc, have not done well at all, so I’ll now have to sort some kind of structure for these ‘mystery ones’!
