  • Saving French bean seed

I have some frch bean plants from which I hope to collect next years seed. The pods are not drying on the plant now. Can I pick the pods and dry them indoors. Thanks

French beans are best if they’re dried on the plant.
At a push you could pull the plants up and hang them upside down in a shed until the pods are fully dry.
    Location....East Midlands.

The pods need to at least turn fully yellow on the plant first. If you pick them before that then even if you dry the beans off the plant they will never germinate, as the seeds were not yet fully mature.
You've got loads of time until the first frost, though, so I'd just leave them be on the plant for now.

Thank you both for the advice. I will just have to be patient.
