I’ve grown carrots well into the winter Dot.
OH has dug some up fresh (and parsnips of course) for Xmas.
I always cover mine in fleece though to keep out carrot fly, so I imagine that helps ?
I notice that slugs tend to find them probably because there are less other crops growing for them to chomp on so that’s something to watch out for.
What variety are they?
I imagine some do better than others.

Try watering with liquid fertiliser like seaweed for nutrients that can help with growth? Maybe put a layer of compost over them like a warm mulch, not over the leaves tho. There has been some warm days so I imagine they can get bigger as long as the leaves are healthy looking.Location : Essex

Just spotted this…
https://ofbf.org/2010/04/12/more-col...getable-crops/
“ Carrots and radishes require soil temperatures of at least 40 degrees but prefer temperatures of 45 degrees and above.” ie 7C
I guess it’ll be the cold nights which will probably be the main determining factor."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Glad I came across this, I have just sown peas for pea shoots, carrot and radishes in the greenhouse, they have been sown in the cleared tomato bed and I will use a poly sun tunnel to hopefully keep the temperature up, I have also transplanted some chard and cabbage to see how they doit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
