What I harvested in 2023

I harvested my last cucumber and dug up some jerusalem artichokes. They have very few slug holes in them for some reason. Everything else has been pestered by slugs and vine weevils all year.

Back when I used to grow Jerusalem artichokes I found that slugs left them alone.
It seems like some plants just aren't liked by slugs. I find that my sweet potatoes almost never have any slug damage, either, despite my allotment being inundated with slugs, and my having reasonably high slug damage on normal potatoes, as well as carrots and beetroot.

If the holes are small (about 2-3mm diameter) then it's probably wireworm. I have problems with those, too, and unlike the slugs they will attack my sweet potatoes (although they usually do less damage to sweet potatoes than they do to normal potatoes).
Slugs, even the tiny burrowing slugs, tend to hollow out cavities in the roots rather than making tunnels.

Still getting good amount of autumn rasps -nearly half a kilo today but really only picking once a week and they are smaller. Harvesting scotch bonnets and Hungarian hot wax from the plants I brought indoors and carrots/parnsips. Still got potatoes and garlic that I lifted and stored in the garage.
