Yesterday one tiny cucumber il have in a sandwich when hungry & three potatoes I used for roasting last night,it’s horrible searching the wet compost in the container,I feel like a scavenging rat sometimes
Some tomatoes that were struggling to ripen and some cape gooseberries.
I have been putting the raspberry vines in with the chickens for the remaining tasteless fruits to be picked off.
Picked some more dry beans for shelling, and a few peppers.
Also picked one pepino. This is the second ripe one I've had so far. I'm not so sure I like them. They're sweet and have a nice texture, but they also have a slightly odd vegetal taste to them, sort of cucumber-like.
7 figs. They're the late crop, but managed to ripen, anyway. I would have had a lot more (20 or so), but I lost most of them to snail damage, followed by mould.
There are ten or so left, but I don't know if they will ripen at this point, as the leaves are just starting to change colour.
Salad greens here too Bren…celery, baby spinach, wild rocket, mustard shoots and lambs lettuce.
Hope they survive the frosts this coming week- doubled fleeced might just do it…
"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
There's a heavy frost coming tomorrow night, so I picked all my tender stuff.
Came back with a large quantity of green peppers and cape gooseberries, along with the last of the runner beans for shelling.
