      • The last of the allotment sweetcorn.
Also started digging my maincrop potoatoes. I dug one row (5 plants) each of Setanta and Blue Annelise.
Setanta were pretty disappointing. Just over 6kg from the row, and most of them small to medium in size. And this despite the plants doing better this year than any year I have previously grown maincrop (warm and damp weather, which potatoes generally like, and they didn't succumb to blight until September, a month later than normal). Shan't be growing them again.
Blue Annelise were much better. 8kg from the row, despite blue varieties usually being lighter cropping. They do spread a lot underground, though. I had potatoes growing even in the trenches between the rows, which I've never seen before with any other variety.

        • Picked the rest of the sweetcorn today, blanched & frozen except one I carried on cooking at the end one tiny runner bean, they might be finished now,one butternut squash, one cucumber, four courgettes, bowl of tomatoes & a bowl of potatoes for dinner that I haven’t even made it’s getting late but I’m surrounded by grapes,I cut off about a third of the grapes,I’ve frozen one bag just having a sit down away from them all

                          • More grapes, they’re in the fridge, the freezer & on the kitchen worktop to eat now. A bowl of tomatoes, some are nearly ripe, will finish ripening on the sunny windowsill. There’s three young runner beans out there on my later planted teepee,I nearly picked them but can get a couple more centimetres from them if I leaves them a bit
