  • Potted on kales, planted out coriander then weeded parsnip bed.
    Location....East Midlands.

    • Sowed yet more parsnip on the plot as only one has come up so far from 3 sowings and has then been devoured by something. My carrots look dire. I then remembered that I had them in that position a couple of years ago and they were small and weakly. I will find another spot for them.
Climbing peas are miles ahead of the hurst greenshaft despite being sown at the same time and both being hit hard by fleabeetle.
Also noticed broad beans are forming which is exciting.
      Planted out calabrese.
And did a lot of potting on.

      • Mowed the lawns, which is a real chore at this time of year with all the netting having to be lifted and then all the prickly pyracantha cat deterrents having to be moved so I can spread the lawn clippings over the potatoes.
Sowed, chitted and soaked a load of seeds tonights.
Now I need to write a new list of jobs that need doing because its all starting to get a bit out of control!
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

          • We’ve removed GH racking, shelves, seedlings and plants then pressure washed GH inside and out.
Racking’s back in and seedling are in the cold frame, toms will be planted in the borders tomorrow.

            • Pricked out sage, summer savoury and oregano plus more begonias. Potted on borage. Sowed lots of flowers. Watered lots of pots.
I'm rapidly running out of room indoors, every surface has pots on, so can someone have a word and get the overnight temps into double figures please

              • Came back from my 18 days abroad today, and went around checking on things.
Everything is very overgrown, including most of my potted veg plants (I had a helper to water them for me). The runner beans, especially, are some 2 feet tall, even though I only sowed them just over 3 weeks ago.
I put the beans and a few other bits out on the patio to start hardening off.
I seem to have a fairly decent apricot crop coming this year, too.

Then I went to the allotment to check on things there. The akebia were very overgrown, despite pruning them before I left, so I pruned them again. They seem to have fruit developing, though. A good amount coming on my quince, plum and pear, too.
I earthed up the maincrop potatoes.
I lost two broccoli, one greenhouse pepper plants, and all my carrot seedlings to slugs (my allotment helper used an old box of slug stopper barrier granules instead of pellets by mistake, so they had no protection), but everything else seems to be growing strong, especially the greenhouse tomatoes.

Lots more to do to catch up with where I should be, but that can wait until tomorrow. I'm tired today from my flight.

                • Welcome back ameno that’s the only drawback to veg growing it doesn’t get put on hold for holidays. Sound like you’ve had some losses especially those carrots.

Potted up Chard, courgettes, and the couple of Toms keeping until they’ve been hardened off. Spent ages putting up self seeded camomile it’s popping up everywhere especially in the parsnip bed.

                        • Strimmed the allotment paths, set up most of my bean frames, removed most of the diseased leaves from my outdoor peach tree, emptied my compost bin and spread the compost, then refilled the bin with the contents of my other compost bin.

                          • Potted up my chitted conqueror sweetcorn, its my first time growing this variety. I sowed the whole pack as it was old so of course all 30 germinated.
Also potted some chitted blauhilde beans.
Emptied out some old pots to reuse the compost, including some which had begonias in that I forgot to lift. I had fun picking out the vine weeevil larvae, which are now in a pot on the bird table.
