It was a beautiful day and a pleasure to be outdoors.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

        • On Sunday I cleared ta barrel of leaf mould ready for this years fallen leaves. Was fun trying to get the stuff from the bottom but very happy to have a wheelbarrow and three containers of it. Now to decide which part of the garden and which plants to give some to.

                  • Planted 100 garlic and 60 Radar onions

Picked another bucket of tomatoes from the polytunnel and basil. I now have a total of 22 foil takeaway containers of pasta sauce in the freezer.

Picked all the dry butter bean pods and shelled them.

Also picked: sweet potatoes, romanesco, yellow peppers, last of the radishes, cucumber, carrots, a small celeriac and some pathetic lettuces LOL

                    • Planted 2 tubs of carrots Speedo F1 to try and overwinter. I will bring them into the GH before the frosts. Planted up 2 tubs of daffs.
On the plot planted out autumn onion seedlings. Rescued Brussels from under a too small cloche. They look a bit small so hoping this warm weather will help them grow a bit before winter.
Picked some late runner beans. The Guinness record are having a late flush but the Moonlight are over. Also picked lots of perpetual spinach and dug a decent parsnip. The crimson crush outside tomatoes will be going on to the kitchen windowsill soon to ripen the last ones as lower overnight temps forecast. They have been really prolific this year.

                        • I’ve removed tom plants from my GH borders, leaving only a handful of green toms to ripen indoors.
After that moved lettuce buckets inside GH.

                              • Also removed the last two Beth Alpha cucumbers. Chopped up and put the two tomato and two cucumber plants, their compost and put it all in the compost bin. Gave that as bit of a turning over and that was it for the day.

Hope I'll get more done next year!
