I did a big sowing of tomatoes last Saturday. I've been gathering a lot of desirable varieties in various online shopping baskets, but money has been too scarce to actually order them. So I had to restrict myself to what I already had in my stash, or what I could buy locally here in Slovakia or just across the border in the Czech Republic. Probably a good thing as I still managed to sow far more than I need, but some were old seeds that I wasn't expecting to germinate.

Well, to my surprise the first ones to pop their heads up yesterday were from a free T&M packet of Harbinger with a 2017 use-by date. And among the ones that started showing today is a Black Cherry from seeds I saved in 2014. So old tomato seeds are worth trying.

But where will I put them if they all germinate??

For those who like variety lists, here's mine:
Beefsteaks: red - Ghittia & Brutus, pink - Lillagro & Malinowy Warszawski
    Pears: Piriform & Black Trifele
    Hearts: Rozabella & Herodes
    Cherries: Black Cherry, Goldkrone, Rosella,
    Elongated cherries: Datlo, Ildi, Blush
Small hearts in a bunch: Little Sweetheart
From old HSL packets: Lumpy Red, Dark Purple Beefsteak, Ararat Flamed, Old German Pink
Bush: Grushovka, Black Sea Man, Venus, Rentita, Kecskeméti Jubileum.
Black: Carbon, Nyagous, Black from Tula
Others: Moskvich, Zlatava, Stupické polní rané (aka Stupice).

    I think that's the lot.

    (Oh! I nearly forgot Harbinger.)

I just checked my germination tests of old broad bean seeds. Looking better than I expected. At least some of the Red Epicures (best by 2021) are germinating and the Wizard Field Beans (undated packet) are looking even better. Nothing happening with the Crimson Flowered, but their expiry date is 2016 so that's not surprising.

Sowed more tomatoes after a load of new seeds failed to germinate
        Sowed more sprouts and parsley.
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

Got time this afternoon so sowed peppers and tomatoes,
They are in the propagator now so hoping for a quick germination.
I usually sow mid Feb but running late this year.

Sowed a tray of Cosmos Millenium this afternoon.

Also sowed some tomato seeds..Cocktail Crush...havnt heard of these before.
Now that I have looked them up some info are saying they are an F1 variety.
Nothing on my packet saying that...Unwins seeds.

Very late, but better late than never: onions, tomatoes, courgettes, assorted brassicas, lettuce and late summer leeks.

Today: more lettuce plus beetroot and spring onions.

None of yesterday's have germinated yet.

Edited: forgot green courgettes (yesterday's were yellow) plus more toms.
