Well, I've come home to discover my seedlings are decidedly leggy. Still at the seed leaf stage. Can they be pricked out deeper or is that a hopeless proposition and I'd be better off just starting again?

Funnily enough, I noticed the other week that when I prick out I automatically pot on everything much deeper than they were in their seed trays/pots and so far nothing seems upset by this, so I say give it go!

I do the same with lettuce.. always pot it on deeper. Doesnt seem to do any harm.

Red romaine pricked out yesterday. Trough of catalogna and amaze red growing well now I have covered it to protect from pigeons.
The succession thing is going OK so far. The romaine is good for single leaf picking and I have some moonred almost ready to harvest on the plot.
One called sweet success was pricked out a week ago and coming on nicely. From the shape in the picture it looks as though I may be able to take the outside leaves. It will be the next one to be resown too as not recommended after end of June.

1.using shade in warm weather
2 shopelites for growing indoors.
3. heat tolerant varieties.

Sowed Black seeded Simpson, Saladin and a Crisp head iceberg last week, germination of Saladin is very good the blackseeded has shown four seeds germinated and nothing from iceberg, I will give them a another week and if no improvement compost will get dumped along with the seed packet, then I will try further verietys, I planted out some little gem a couple of days ago, so hopefully with the warm wet weather they will be at a picking stage in a couple of weeks
