I do the same with lettuce.. always pot it on deeper. Doesnt seem to do any harm.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Red romaine pricked out yesterday. Trough of catalogna and amaze red growing well now I have covered it to protect from pigeons.
The succession thing is going OK so far. The romaine is good for single leaf picking and I have some moonred almost ready to harvest on the plot.
One called sweet success was pricked out a week ago and coming on nicely. From the shape in the picture it looks as though I may be able to take the outside leaves. It will be the next one to be resown too as not recommended after end of June.

Sowed Black seeded Simpson, Saladin and a Crisp head iceberg last week, germination of Saladin is very good the blackseeded has shown four seeds germinated and nothing from iceberg, I will give them a another week and if no improvement compost will get dumped along with the seed packet, then I will try further verietys, I planted out some little gem a couple of days ago, so hopefully with the warm wet weather they will be at a picking stage in a couple of weeksit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
