I just chucked a past its best supermarket bought baby plum tomato into a seed tray. The seeds simply burst out of the remains of the skin and are ready for potting up now.
The local sewage works used to be the go to place for free tomato plants in the old days.

I'm not surprised. Apparently certain rail companies used to have real problems with tomato plants growing on the tracks, due to the way the toilets would sometimes just dump their waste onto the tracks.

Tomato seeds will survive all sorts and germinate anywhere. If it weren't for blight killing them off each year, I'm quite sure they would be considered an invasive weed by now.

The bag was sealed so absolutely not.

Raspberry canes can also be found by railways that have been closed for years.
I found some nice summer raspberry canes along a railway that was closed before WWII due to bridge collapse.
I just pulled a couple of canes up and planted them up.

I love my Raspberries but they can be a bit of a thug. I find them growing in my border on the opposite side of the garden from where I actually grow them in raised beds and they often appear in other raised beds having gone under the path. Delicious though so I forgive them.

Raspberries are native, though, so that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with human activity.

Even after days inside a very warm greenhouse when the sun is out I am well behind with toms and chilli's. And again, no show from the Wilko pot kit. In fact, so many seeds from Wilko have been a no show or very poor (including Johnsons) so I won't be bothering with them again. It can't be my soil as other seeds have germinated fine.
It is still ridiculously cold and everything is holding back. So much for global warming

Are you toms maybe a bit crowded, Marb? Hard to tell from the picture. Either way, they're as big as mine are and it's been ridiculously hot at times here.

Well yes but they are healthy with good leaves and thick stems. I sowed enough to make sure they germinated as old seeds. I can't thin them out until its time to pot them on.
