  • Reverse thinning of carrots

I was reading about removing the largest carrots when thinning out so you can eat them as baby ones and leave the smaller ones to continue growing to a good size. More harvests in fact.
Has anyone ever tried this? Fors and against?

i personally found reverse thinning to be to much work since getting good germination
from carrots is always a problem. I prefer to just sow at final spacing fill in gaps. which
gives me same result without having to reverse thin. Stager sowing does the same
without thinning.. Given most people seem to be bad or lazy at thinning. my way
works better with no waste of time or seed.

I do the same as peacegarden,no thinning needed sow an inch or two apart. I wouldn’t want to chance the smell of thinning them attracting a carrot fly,for years they haven’t known I grow carrots

jane i get better results by sowing 4 in apart. I also use 2 move placement
          for my stager plantings.
