  • Perennial Kale advice needed

I’ve got a perennial kale about 3ft tall this years plant.
not sure how or when to harvest the leaves or shoots, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just pick leaves from all over, 3 ft sounds like you could start, maybe not too many yet (depends a bit what variety? Daubenton's doesn't get much bigger, while Taunton Deane would still grow quite a bit). I harvest pretty much all year round.

Thanks Melanie, it’s a Taunton Deane which I understand can grow to 2mtrs it’s quite a monster. I’ll pick a few leaves and try them.
are the larger leaves tough? Do I have to boil them to death to make them edible ?

Yes Taunton Deane will take up quite a lot of room .

The best way to prepare esp larger leaves I find is to briefly blanch the leaves first, then chop and use in your recipe
