      Thanks to everyone for the advice!
      I think the grey mould diagnosis is probably correct.
      I've cut out most of the infected sections but I think if more of the plant is affected over the next few days I'll get rid of the whole plant.

        My Sungold tomatoes are showing signs of blight this morning - I thought this photo might be helpful. The blight is circled in red.

        Blight spores are often spread by rain water and the fact that this patch is on an upward facing part of the stem is typical of the first signs of blight. this will rapidly spread to infect the rest of the plant and the only thing I can do is pick the fruit in the hope that it is not yet infected (some of it will be) and compost the plant before it spreads to the others nearby.

            I always get the browny stem thing too. First year I was in a panic, but it doesn't seem to spread or affect the crop.
            Mostly flowers, some fruit and veg, at the seaside in Edinburgh.

              One of mine has got that browny stem but looks perfectly fine otherwise.
