Hi there- and welcome to the Vine!
Well I should think you should leave well alone- but if you've an itch to scratch...it's pretty hard not to follow your instinct!!!
What are you growing??...do you think the seeds have gone moldy???"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

If you want to check for sprouting it's better to sprout them on damp kitchen paper then transfer them to compost. I think if you disturb them now it could be terminal!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Oh that wait to see if they've been germinating. But have patience and when they push their first green shoots through it'll be worth it.My hopes are not always realized but I always hope (Ovid)

What are you growing Herby and when did you plant them ?
Maybe you're just being impatient.
Check the seed tray - are they still damp?
If not, spray them with some water and put them in a poly bag, clipped close , until they germinate.
I wouldn't disturb them unless I really thought they were duds.
To check, I would only scrape in a little corner.
Hope they just pop up for you .
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

If it's any consolation, we have all at some time wanted to or have peeked. Iv'e certainly done it more than once, and i probably will do it again. Ha, oh what fun."He that but looketh on a plate of ham and eggs to lust after it hath already committed breakfast with it in his heart"

I can't resist a sneak peak after I think something should have appeared. But I always sow more than I need to, so to lose a few isn't usually a problem. I also think that if you have a tendency to do it then you can become quite an expert. as they say practice makes perfect.
