  • Planted out 11 squash plants, one more sweet potato, and two more sweetcorn plants at the allotment.
    Weeded the onions.
Tied in the loganberries a bit.
Put up strings for the litchi tomato plants (which are viciously thorny, by the way. They make brambles look sweet and delicate).

      • Finally got around to tackling my now rather overgrown back garden. I strimmed all the long grass and other weeds and raked it all off, then dug over the squash patch and planted two squash plants.
I also thinned one of the apples, and potted up my cucumber plant for the conservatory (the only one which germinated this year).

              • Yesterday I potted up my brassicas after they were ripped from their cells by a pigeon, managed to save a enough of each, they're were right next to my back door, hidden, so I thought amongst herbs and flowers. They're now under chicken wire cloches.
Potted on peppermint and rainbow chard.
Potted up some wall troughs with fuchias, pots of busy lizzies.
                Watered my spare tomato plants.
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

                            • Yesterday we replaced the tatty scaffold net protecting the cabbage with a fine white mesh which we think will let in more light. Managed to knock the end of a fresh stem off the nearby Tayberry in the process which was gratefully received by a plot neighbour as it was a lovely size for an impromptu cutting.

Lots of weeding (if only the veg grew so well!).

Earthed up the spuds again (trying to avoid the smaller ones).

Sprinkled some chicken manure pellets around the various beans & mangetout as although they're all growing well, the Gigantes are still looking a little yellow despite a tom feed last week- although I'm thinking that might be due to the lower night temps than lack of food. The gooseberries & a few strawbs got some a few too as I wanted to empty the bucket.

Put in some short canes to support the sunflowers & gently guided the climbing stuff to their supports.

Procrastinated about some potting on at home - too achy from earthing up spuds to move off the sofa

Edit to add: also gave the tips of the broadies another squirt with a washing up liquid/water mix. Seems to have got rid of the blackfly I spotted on a few last week so fingers crossed.
