Astonishingly my Desiree potatoes at the allotment are already flowering.

Wow - that's really early for Desiree isn't it? I've heard them classed as an 'early' maincrop but there's early & then there's 1st early early

Almost 9 weeks since planting under straw…and some of my Charlotte are in flower.
Second earlies…supposed to be about 15 weeks before they are ready to harvest.
        Hmmmm…

One of my bags were a mere skeleton, not a leaf left. Decided to tip it out. Don't think we will be full after that haul

Lifted our first spuds at the weekend. Went for the 'Isabelia' (aka Pembrokeshire early from the dregs of a shop-bought bag) as these have the shortest growing time of our lot.

Enough for 4-5 individual portions from one plant so not a bad haul for 76 days since planting (blurb online says 80-90 days to harvest).

Nice texture - firm but not too firm. Very thin skin.

Flavour-wise, opinions are divided here. OH raved 'ooo, lovely'. I thought they were nice but the flavour was very mild to me.
