No doubt most people have heard of the three sisters companion planting, where you have beans growing up corn stalks and weeds suppress by ground covering with pumpkins, can anyone tell me if there is any reason not to use Jerusalem artichokes in place of the corn, I am thinking on trying this out this year but not sure if the artichokes are incompatible with the other two. Any informed gratefully received

Jerusalem artichokes are a type of sunflower, and sunflowers do impede growth of other nearby plants or can even kill them. I would keep them somewhere a bit more separate.

Thanks Melanie, I thought there was something about them and as they are a North American plant I wondered why they were not used in similar systems, fortunately I do have some sweet corn plants I can use
