Yes, he is in North Carolina, so he can grow things that we can't, but his reasoning and methods are sound. The use of outdoor Christmas lights to heat his citrus and avocado trees is interesting, although whether you can still buy incandescent outdoor lights is debatable (LEDs won't work), and what it would cost to run them I dread to think! The most important lesson though is the difference between insulating a human and insulating a plant, which is what most people don't understand. Unlike people, plants do not give off heat.
