So far I’ve just been doing a bit of weeding. It’s either been too cold, windy or wet so far for more than half an hour at a time

Just picking up branches and twigs, it saves one of us tripping up on over them.

Zero gardening here, ground frozen solid, even the sand on the beach was frozen solid near the high tide mark. Lovely having a walk over the stubble fields in the sun even though it was zero degrees.

No gardening, but recycling loads of twigs as kindling.

Dug up and split a rather congested rhubarb plant.

Today I completed two projects. The first was an aluminium frame that I'd made and Nettie had sewn up the mesh cover for. That should allow me to grow leeks, garlic, onions and brassicas without them being destroyed by allium leaf miners or caterpillars. The second is an insulated and heated combined bread proving and chilli seed germinating box, that uses a surplus puppy warming mat and a propagator heater control. That's warming up flour and water, sourdough starter and will prove the dough tomorrow.

Mark Rand just wondering how the insulated box is working out?
                        Great idea!

Was going to the lottie, but car battery is flat!

So stayed home and pruned back 3 rose bushes, and planted some polyanthus in tubs. Nice splash of colour to look at out of the patio doors.

Also sowed some stuff for my propogator which now looks very inadequate when compared to Mark's

Tomatoes: Crimson Blush (beefsteak) and Fantasio.
                          Chilies: Scotch Bonnet and Padrón
Peppers: Orange, yellow and purple bell peppers
Aubergine: stripy one, whose name I forget
                          Are y'oroight booy?

It seems to be working very well. Some tomato seedlings have appeared after 5 days. The bad news is that I was moving it off the dining room table onto a chair to make room for the family on Sunday lunch and tipped it over a bit. I think I collected the seedlings of the three pots which got spilled, but I'm not sure which ones they are. Got to sow some more now.

I've taken the lid off it to give the germinated seedlings some light during the day and will work out how to put a grow light over it tomorrow.

Trying to rake out and pick out Magnolia leaves from grass which is almost one foot high.
Not finished the job yet but it’s looking very much better. Hopefully most of the rest will come up when the lawn is mown ( if it ever dries out)

Mark…part of the fun of gardening each year , for me at least, is trying to work out what OH has sown and where.
I’m sure we have corvids which pinch the markers
