Yesterday I left my sweet pea seedlings outside all night by mistake
It hit-1C and they were covered in frost…so I’m crossing my fingers that they are indeed frost hardy down to -4C as I have read on goooogle.
Hmmm…gut feeling tells me they won’t be.

More what OH did today than me but I did some great supervision & pointing work

OH dug up some of our Rhubarb for new homes in other people's gardens - I bagged it up. What's left will be lifted, split to rejuvenate and moved to a new spot on the plot next week.

OH finished digging over one of the beds. We covered another with black plastic sheet to warm the soil a bit but mostly to suppress the weeds to make digging over easier.

I filled the incinerator bin with the last of our scrap wood! It's been a bane since taking over the plot several years ago so we're so pleased to see the last of it almost gone & the ash is being dug into the bed to improve the soil

We finally managed to dig out a humongous hellebore!
Only took two of us, a spade a fork and a long crowbar to finally prize it out of the ground
It will now be relocated in three chunks elsewhere in the garden/field.

What I DIDN'T do was make any further project on my Polytunnel. However me and Mrs G:

Moved the larger brassica cage to allotment plot 5 from plot 3 (skipping plot 4 this year to correct the rotation order). Had the last 2 tiddler savoys with our roast tonight.

Erected pea cages. Pea cage 1 is a 30ft length of 5ft high 10mm square wire mesh, which we form into an elongated U shape with posts through it, with an opening about 18 inches wide at one end for access. This is for normal peas/petits pois. Pea cage 2 is about half the length and used for Mangetout. I'll probably sow all of these next weekend.

Planted approx 150 red onion sets, Rosanna.

Planted out about 20 broad beans to fill the gaps where the October sown ones didn't emerge
