I've some lovely Brussels Sprouts growing for Christmas, unfortunately they're ready now and I'm not sure they'll keep until the day if I leave them on the plot. If I cut the plant and leave the sprouts on the stem how long will they last? And where would be the best place to store them?

Can't understand why your sprouts can't stay on the plants growing in the ground. My sprouts are ready but I only pick off what I want for a meal and leave the rest. If you keep picking on a regular basis from the bottom of the plant more sprouts will appear further up and you should be able to crop a sprout plant for at least a couple of months.

They will be fine - I've been cutting sticks of sprouts for my veg boxes for several weeks now - at least the ones that weren't blown- though this week is the biggie obviously.
Unless you need to lift them I would do as suggested and just leave them on the stick and pick as and when required.Rat
