    This is pea shoots.
They can be cut 2 or 3 times before they give in.
I plant them in succession to keep them going.

they should still continue B - first time I did them I go over excited (surely not!) and cut them as soon as their little heads showed - but they came back for more - tough little devils!

Nice pic Alice, that will assist Grapes that are first-time shooters

This looks like a good use for the peas I had left over from last year. I wasn't impressed with them as peas, they tasted 'harvested' even before they had filled the pods. Perhaps the shoots will be tastier!
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

Where can I learn how to do whatever it is you're all doing?

Is it that you sow peas and cut the tops before they flower? Can you eat the stalks?

            Sorry for being Hignorant!

Going to have a go at these. Seeing some fresh green might renew my optimism.

Maytreefrannie, the pea shoots are just the shoots from peas. They grow on the windowsill. You can cut the green shoots and eat them, cooked or raw. They taste like fresh peas and give you something homegrown when you might not have much else. And they're dead easy.
Take a pot (any size you like) and fill it with compost. Warm the compost if it's been lying out in the garage. Soak the peas in tepid water, or not.
Plant the peas, shoulder to shoulder in the compost and cover with about half an inch compost.
Put the pot on the windowsill and wait for your shoots. Cut them any size you like. After they're cut they will shoot again - maybe once, and if your lucky, twice.
                Good luck.

Brilliant! Thank you all for so many replies, and the picture is fantastic Alice! I planted some over the weekend and no sign of any action yet. I think my pot may be a bit too shallow to get very large ones, they are in a little seedling tray. Fingers crossed!
