  • Your seedlings look about the same as mine. If they're leggy, then I'm going to pot them on a bit deeper and hope for the best
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

            • i planted mine less than two weeks ago around the 18th jan i think. i used left over seed compost bought last year from asda. i just put loads of spare garden pearle seeds(i think) left over from last year in a sort of plastic plant pot holder they were giving away at homebase and placed it on a warm south facing window sill and this mornind 29th jan i have got about 8 of the little bueties showing through.

              • Well here we are folks, by tonight it will be one week since sowing my seeds! I have the following babies standing up to say hello.

4 out of 4 Black Cherry
4 out of 4 Orange Banana
4 out of 4 Cream Sausage
1 out of 4 Royal Chico, so far these have been much slower than all the others! Fingers crossed the other 3 are on their way now! They are all now out of their heated propagator and on the windowsill next to chillies and peppers which are still basking away in the propagator!

All the toms are a little leggy, as to be expected seeing what others have been saying. When they get a set of true leaves I will pot each one on into it's own little 2inch peat pot! Plan is to sink their stalks up to their little necks in compost so that they can make more roots. Next time they are potted on I will again plant them just a little deeper; then hopefully only once more when they are planted into their final growing place!

                I also have
                2 out of 2 Lemon Chilli's showing
I have at least 1 out of 2 Baby Orange Peppers showing. I can't remember if the other one is showing yet I only took a quick look this morning!
I'm still waiting for other 3 types of chills also other peppers, and Lemon pips to show. waiting with bated breath and fingers crossed!

Duronal, don't repot before the true leaves appear. The plants will have no roots. Once the true leaves appear the plants should have decent roots and you can repot them right up to the first pair of leaves. And if you don't know this, the seed leaves will die off, so don't panic when you see them turning yellow.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

                    • All 3 types repotted today as per moon planting.

I had nearly 100% germination even from the self saved seeds so had to discard several seedlings, i picked the thickest with the most leaves on.
they have gone into 3 inch newspaper pots 2 to a pot, so i can discard the weakest from each.

                      all in all I have
                      12 black cherry
                      12 tumbling toms
                      12 baby plum.

                      • I put mine into the new room last night and had to rush them back in to the kitchen this morning as the toms and chillis were looking a tad cold - I swear they were shivering.

The toms look better already - I gave them a warm emergency water.

Good to see PW sowing, not that far behind us weirdos after all

ETA: oh pants. you've gone and made me want to sow some more toms and peppers.

Sowed 20 types of tomato and 20 types of pepper/chilli. List will be on the blog tomorrow sometime. Phew.

All my tomatoes and tomatillo's have germinated Peppers have been put back in the propagator. I have now moved the tomatoes to the south facing window cill and plan to turn daily.
Tomatoes and tomatillos have all been repotted and are coming on well. All have first set of true leaves and I'm really pleased with them. Tempted to do some more but running out of space and we still have the dreaded snow so I shall wait now until the end of Feb.

                            • Repotted my Grushovka toms, they are doing the best out of the original sowings [but then i have looked after them the most]. 2 are now in the bathroom and the strongest one is in the kitchen.

I am about 3 weeks early as I going to be working in Quatar somewhere between March and July and need to ensure that the old girl has plants to put in the tunnels should I end up going earlier rather than later.
