I have bought Arran Pilot & King Edward from B&Q. I've got my own Pink Fir Apple & Roosters in the fridge.

I've ordered from the Tattieman:
Red Duke of York
Charlotte
Romano
Sante
I won't get them till the end of Feb and plan on having them in end of March/April.

Chitting will give earlies a head-start, but only if you plant them into warm ground. If not, they'll just stop, and you will have gained nothing... so there's no point doing it too early.
It's like starting French beans off in pots ... to give them a head-start. If you put your tender beans outside while it's still cold, they will sulk and stop growing. All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

Hi Pukka - and all. I was thinking on the same lines as you but can "anyone" tell me while we're on subject of potatoes, how long blight stays in a plot. I acquired my allotment in November 08, and was told there and then that it had blight, and, at the same time that nobody had worked it for 3 years. I was planning on trying some blight resistant spuds like sarpo, cara, nadine and swift. Can someone enlighten me a little please?Last edited by Mags; 14-01-2009, 03:11 PM.
