I find my toilet roll inners also go mouldy, but if you let them dry out a bit then it all dries up, I now have a wateringcan with a weeny spout, and water right in the centre of the compost in the tube, helps a lot. I think it's when the rollls get too wet they get mouldy. I used loads last year and it made it so easy to plant straight into the ground, my sunflowers have never done so well!!
Has anybody had success with dinging the rolls in the microwave?

I don't use paper, but i do use loo roll centres. I always nuke them for a minute or so and don't get mould. I don't suppose you could make your paper pots and then nuke them. Sterilised compost too . Just a thought.

Thanks everyone, I'll try microwaving the next batch and let you know how they get on. And I definitely over-watered them at the start, so that mustn't have helped!
